The Canary Islands (Islas Canarias in Spanish) also known as the Canaries or Canarias in Spanish are located 100 kilometres off the southern coast of Morocco. There are seven main islands in the Spanish archipelago: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro. The climate is subtropical with long warm summers and moderately warm winters, also known as the islands of eternal spring. The Canary Islands are a very popular all year round destination for many holiday makers due to the weather conditions and excellent sporting amenities.
